I welcome this opportunity to stand for the party in Clifton with Maidenway having lived here almost all my life. I am greatly honoured to have the opportunity to succeed my great family friend Ian Doggett, as councillor, who sadly passed away last year.
My values are very much the same as Ian’s and I look forward to having the opportunity to follow in his footsteps. I will continue to champion local transport of which I am a user and continue to put the residents as my top priority, listening and responding to their issues, helping where I can.
I have worked in public service, both in education and in health care. The majority of my working life has been in the NHS. I am currently working as an administrator in a local GP Surgery. During these unprecedented times it has been quite demanding, and I have worked through all three lock downs. Recently I have signed up to be a volunteer as a Covid Champion for Torbay Council.
I have always followed local politics - brought up on it as my father was a local activist for the Liberal Party before it merged with the SDP to become the Liberal Democrats. My late mother Ruth Pentney was a local councillor for Clifton with Maidenway, working alongside Ian.
In my spare time I enjoy practicing martial arts and hope to become an instructor eventually. I like spending time with my husband and my two children walking by the sea front, baking and watching family movies together.
I welcome the opportunity to work with Councillor Maggi Douglas-Dunbar and look forward to us working well together to achieve great things for Clifton with Maidenway and maintain the benefits of the work being delivered by the Liberal Democrat/Independent-led Council.
At this point the by-election is set to proceed on the 6th of May.
