Chris Carter was first elected as a Torbay Councillor in 2003 and has been a member of the Liberal Democrats for nearly 20 years. She has lived in Torbay for over 18 years and also works part-time for a local youth charity. What's more, she has been a trustee of another charity for many years, is a Rotarian and is involved with a number of local groups. Her priorities are improving quality of life, cleaning up the area (fly-tipping, dog mess, etc), improving rented accommodation, developing employment opportunities and ensuring that local bus services remain.

Nigel Penny has lived in Paignton for 7 years, having retired there after 43 years of working in public sector financial management in both the UK and abroad. He is now the External Advisor to the Liberal Democrat Group on Torbay Council. He has also contributed to a number of local campaigns, including Paignton Harbour South Quay and town centre regeneration, especially Crossways and Station Square. His local interests include Paignton Hospital and health services in the community, affordable housing and the environment. Nigel brings a fresh perspective and much practical public sector experience, which is particularly relevant in these times of squeezed finances.
